How long do you need in Lombok?

If you’re short on time, a minimum of 5 to 7 days can provide a solid introduction to Lombok’s highlights, particularly if you focus on key areas such as Kuta Lombok and the Gili Islands. However, for those seeking a more leisurely pace or wishing to uncover hidden gems across the island, check out our two-week itinerary, offering the chance to fully immerse yourself in Lombok’s natural beauty and local culture without feeling rushed.

Our 5-Day Adventure in Lombok

Day 1: Arrival at Katamaran Hotel, Senggigi Beach
We kicked off our Lombok adventure by checking into the Katamaran Hotel, beautifully situated along Senggigi Beach. The atmosphere was serene and relaxed, a pleasant surprise compared to the bustling tourist spots we had anticipated. After settling in, we took a leisurely stroll along Senggigi Beach, where we encountered numerous local sellers. While their persistent offers were a bit overwhelming, it added to the vibrant local culture. We enjoyed the stunning views of the coastline and the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore.

Day 2: Exploring Gili Trawangan
On our second day, we set out for Gili Trawangan, a must-visit destination if you’re only able to explore one of the Gili Islands. The island buzzed with life, featuring an array of eateries and charming souvenir shops lining the streets. We opted for a horse-drawn carriage to navigate the area, which was both fun and unique. Our speedboat transfer was conveniently booked through a local tour agency, ensuring a smooth journey. We spent the day lounging on the beach, swimming in crystal-clear waters, kayaking along the coast, and cycling around the island. The relaxed vibe of Gili T was exactly what we needed.

Day 3: Pantai Aan and Bukit Merese
Day three brought us to Pantai Aan, where we enjoyed snorkelling just off the shore, discovering an array of colourful fish swimming among the coral. Later, we hiked to Bukit Merese, a breathtaking viewpoint that should not be missed. Our guide informed us that there are plans to develop villas in this area to accommodate increasing tourist demand, making our visit all the more urgent. The sunset view from Bukit Merese was spectacular—truly a sight to behold!

Day 4: Waterfalls Adventure
On our fourth day, we embarked on an exhilarating journey to Sedang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend hiring a guide for this hike as they share fascinating stories about the area. While Sedang Gile waterfall itself was average in appearance and restricted swimming underneath, it was still impressive. The hike was moderately challenging and may not be suitable for elderly travellers, but reaching Tiu Kelep was incredibly rewarding. Standing before its powerful cascade felt exhilarating; I could even lie down at the river’s edge for a refreshing dip—an experience I would rate 11/10!

Day 5: Shopping in Kuta and Relaxation
Our final day took us to Kuta, where we indulged in some retail therapy. We spent hours shopping and bargaining at local markets, picking up fantastic deals on souvenirs and handmade crafts. Some members of our group chose to unwind at a nearby spa while my sister and father took on the waves at Mawi Beach, trying their hand at surfing before our evening flight home.

Overall, our trip to Lombok was nothing short of amazing—100/10 would recommend! The island’s natural beauty, vibrant culture, and friendly locals made for an unforgettable experience that we can’t wait to relive.
